Faculty

At Covenant, learning is a contact sport, and it’s never limited to classrooms and labs. You’ll interact with your professors virtually everywhere—you’ll eat lunch with them in the Great Hall, pray next to them in chapel, and even take them on in a friendly game of Battle Ball down at Barnes Gym and Ashe Activity Center.

 

Expert Scholars.

Eighty-nine percent of Covenant's faculty have doctorates or terminal degrees, earned from such institutions as Cambridge, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Yale. Our professors regularly involve students in their research activities. In fact, many students actually help edit books that their professors are writing.

 

Committed, Faithful Mentors.

Our professors are more than top scholars; they’re passionate about teaching and sharing their Reformed faith in a setting that sharpens the intellect and encourages increased awe of our sovereign God. All faculty members subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith, and you’ll often find them staying after class or relaxing with students around campus to flesh out class material, discuss the Lord's calling on a student's life, or simply talk about weekend plans.

 

Personal Attention.

Our small class sizes, with an average of 17 students and a student–faculty ratio of 12:1, make it possible for faculty to become mentors and friends. A close-knit community doesn’t mean easy academics. Because professors know you so well, they’ll push you to mature intellectually and spiritually. And don't be surprised if your professors invite you over for dinner or take you on in an intramural game!
