Wilberforce Scholarship Program

William Wilberforce’s diary entry on October 28, 1787, at the age of 28 was: “God almighty has set before me two great objects, the suppression of the slave trade and the reformation of manners.” Forty-six years later, on July 26, 1833, just three days before Wilberforce’s death, the House of Commons passed the bill for the abolition of slavery.

Wilberforce’s remarkable character traits enabled this accomplishment and are qualities of replication. The Wilberforce Scholarship is a competitive, regional, $15,000 scholarship awarded to qualified students who evidence Wilberforce-type character and want to make a difference in their communities.
